How to split players into teams

  1. Type or paste your players, one name per line.
  2. Choose how to split — a number of teams, or a number of players per team.
  3. Optionally tick Balance by skill and add a rating 1–5 after each name (e.g. Alex 5) so the teams come out even.
  4. Hit Make teams. Not happy? Shuffle again for a fresh draw.
  5. Tap Copy teams and paste the result into your group chat.

Frequently asked questions

Is the team generator free?

Yes. It's completely free with no usage limits and no signup.

How does balancing by skill work?

Give each player a rating from 1 to 5. The generator runs a snake draft — highest-rated players are dealt out first, alternating direction each round — so every team ends up with a similar total skill level. You'll see each team's average rating next to its name.

Can I keep the ratings private?

Yes. Ratings are only used to balance the teams — untick Show ratings to hide every number before you screenshot or copy the teams, so players never see how they were rated.

Can I pick the number of players per team instead?

Yes. Switch Split by to Players per team and enter the size you want. The generator makes as many teams as needed and spreads any leftover players evenly.

How do I share the teams?

Hit Copy teams to copy a clean, plain-text version you can paste straight into WhatsApp, Messenger, email, or anywhere else.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in any mobile browser — paste your list and split on the go.
